Despite stormy weather the opening of 'Collecting Photographers' was well attended by a 340 people. Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast addressed the guests. The event marks the first combined effort with the New Zealand Portrait Gallery who are showing The Hocken Collections' 'Portraits of Artists'.

This will be just the first of many exhibitions to be run in conjunction with the New Zealand Portrait Gallery in our proposed home at Shed 11 on Wellington's waterfront.

The exhibition Collecting Photographers, curated by Janet Bayly will run from 12 July – 19 August 2007.

Cheap cameras in the hands of very amateur photographers who store their negatives badly give a certain sort of result. Nevertheless there's things to be learned and an interesting little camera to look at.
