Geoff Perry (1900-52) photographer
Geoff Perry (1900-52) worked as a commercial photographer in Wellington from the 1930s until he moved to Levin in the early 1950s. His principal form of income came from portrait sittings which issued from his Brandon Street studio. What makes Perry's work distinct from his competitors' is his innovative use of emblems or motifs which were projected onto his studio wall behind the subject. These helped to create a mood which reflected the individual's professional interests.

Colour Camera of the 1930s
In the days before colour film colour photography was done with multiple pictures taken through colour filters that were recombined using dye techniques to recreate the original image. The JOS-PE tri colour camera was a commercial camera of the early 1930s.

Historic Cameras - Truby King and Ed Hillary
Cameras kept by two famous people have come to our attention. Sir Edmund Hillary still had the Retina that he'd taken to the top of Mt. Everest, where he captured Sherpa Tensing holding his ice axe aloft. And excitingly we now hold in our collection Truby King's camera and examples of his work.

San Marino International Photomeeting
We had to find three young Australasian photographers for a San Marino 1997 Photomeet competition. It wasn't always easy but we succeeded and they did well.
